Get to Know Me!

Hey Lovelies! Welcome to my first blog post! I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while. So I thought I would start by introducing myself and talking about where Sunny & Beau came from!

Hi, I’m Charmaine!

Like most businesses, Sunny & Beau came from the heart – and still does.
I have always wanted to run my own business but found it difficult to find the right time. Then, after having children of my own and wanting stylish yet affordable clothes for my little ones, that is when I knew. I wanted to create clothes that I dreamed of, for my little ones, and yours too.  

I utilized my skills from years and years of retail and merchandising experience in the UK, and combined it with my newfound interest.

Welcome, Sunny & Beau!

I took inspiration for the name of my brand from my first-born son, Sunny Beau. Funnily enough, when he was born, I could not decide between Sunny or Beau, so he ended up with both! 

7 months later, and I am absolutely loving this journey. I am learning every day and I am grateful for all of you. I enjoy the flexibility of working for myself, in the comfort of my own home, where I can have lunch when I want and in any pair of sweats that I want.

Of course, it gets hard at times. Juggling the mum life of two amazing kids, while continuously learning about the business life. I tirelessly put hours and late nights into my brand. Regardless of how challenging it gets; I cannot imagine myself doing anything else.

I LOVE what I do!

Through this new series of blog posts, I want you to see that I'm not just a person selling baby and children's clothing. I'm a mum, I'm a wife, and I'm a whole bag of fun! 

Fun facts about me!

What is the weirdest thing you keep in your handbag? 

I have a mini worry doll in my handbag! It's like a voodoo doll, but for good karma. I like to hold onto it when I'm feeling anxious. 

What is your weirdest habit? 

Before I use a cup or glass, I must blow into it. I don't know if it's because I'm trying to blow off dust from inside the cup, but it's just something I HAVE to do all the time!

What is the funniest thing Marley does a lot? 

Marley (my younger daughter) likes to scrunch her face at me every day. I don't know what she's trying to achieve, but it's incredibly adorable and makes me laugh every time. 

What has been the hardest part about running this business solo?

I experienced an overwhelming anxiety during my pregnancy with Marley, and it severely affected my mindset during the start of Sunny & Beau. I doubted myself many times and I felt like I couldn't handle running the businesses!

Can you give us a fun fact about your husband?

Matt (my husband), has been nicknamed 'Biscuits' for so long. His middle name is 'Arnott', so I'll let you figure out why!
